Superman

If you're a fan of superheroes with heart, hope, and a little bit of cosmic chaos, James Gunn’s Superman might be right up your alley. This 2025 reboot kicks off the new DC Universe (DCU) and reintroduces the iconic hero with a fresh face and a big mission. David Corenswet steps into the cape as Clark Kent/Superman, a young journalist in Metropolis trying to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. It’s not just about saving the day—this Superman is navigating love, identity, and public perception in a world that’s not always sure what to make of him.
The film blends action-packed superhero spectacle with a surprisingly emotional core. Superman finds himself in hot water after intervening in an international conflict, and things spiral when Lex Luthor (played with icy charm by Nicholas Hoult) uses the situation to turn the world against him. Add in a superpowered dog named Krypto, a team of fellow heroes called the Justice Gang, and a clone with a grudge, and you’ve got a story that’s as much about inner strength as it is about punching kaiju.
Rachel Brosnahan shines as Lois Lane, a sharp, no-nonsense reporter who challenges Clark both professionally and personally. The chemistry between her and Corenswet is a highlight, especially in a standout interview scene that’s equal parts romantic tension and ethical debate. Supporting characters like Mister Terrific, Green Lantern, and Hawkgirl bring humor and depth, while Krypto steals scenes with his not-so-good-good-boy antics.
This movie is definitely for fans of character-driven superhero stories with a bit of old-school charm. If you loved the hopeful tone of the Christopher Reeve era or the emotional beats of All-Star Superman, you’ll probably enjoy this. On the flip side, if you’re looking for gritty realism or a tight, minimalist plot, you might find it a bit overstuffed. There’s a lot going on—multiple heroes, political intrigue, and interdimensional threats—but it’s all delivered with Gunn’s signature blend of heart and humor.
Superman is colorful, earnest, and unafraid to wear its ideals on its sleeve. Whether you’re a longtime DC fan or just looking for a fun, feel-good blockbuster, this one’s worth a look. Just don’t forget to look up.
