Superman

If you're a fan of superheroes with heart, action, and a dash of cosmic chaos, James Gunn’s Superman is a must-watch. This 2025 reboot kicks off the new DC Universe (DCU) with a fresh take on the iconic hero, played by David Corenswet. He’s not just lifting buildings and saving cities—he’s navigating the tricky balance between his Kryptonian roots and his life as Clark Kent, a journalist in Metropolis.
The film dives into Superman’s struggle to reconcile his alien heritage with his human upbringing, all while dealing with public backlash after intervening in an international conflict. Things get even messier when Lex Luthor, played with icy charm by Nicholas Hoult, steps in with a plan that’s as twisted as it is ambitious. Add in a superpowered dog named Krypto, a team of fellow heroes called the Justice Gang, and a clone named Ultraman, and you’ve got a story that’s packed with action, emotion, and some wild sci-fi twists.
Rachel Brosnahan brings sharp wit and depth to Lois Lane, Clark’s colleague and love interest, while the supporting cast—Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Nathan Fillion as a hilariously blunt Green Lantern—adds plenty of flavor. The film’s tone is colorful and earnest, with a strong focus on character and values, even as it juggles a large ensemble and high-stakes battles.
Superman has been praised for its heartfelt storytelling, strong performances, and visual flair. Critics loved Corenswet’s grounded take on the Man of Steel and Hoult’s intense portrayal of Luthor. That said, if you’re not into superhero films with lots of characters and interwoven plotlines, you might find it a bit overstuffed.
But for fans of classic Superman stories, especially those who appreciate a hopeful, kind-hearted hero in a complicated world, this film hits the sweet spot. It’s a fresh start for the DCU that doesn’t forget what makes Superman special—and it’s got just enough humor, heart, and heroics to keep you hooked.
